The village of Tankovo is located in southeastern Bulgaria, part of the municipality of Nessebar, in the Burgas region, 4 km northwest of the resort of Sunny Beach, 8 km northwest of the historic town of Nessebar and 28 km from Burgas.

The climate is mild continental, influenced to a large extent by the Black Sea, as well as air currents from the Mediterranean Sea.
