The town of Nessebar is one of the most visited Bulgarian resorts on the Black Sea coast. It is located 38 km from Burgas and 100 km south of Varna on the rocky peninsula of the same name, which loosely connects to the sandy Sunny Beach in the south.

The town was declared an architectural and archaeological reserve in 1056. It has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1983.
