Pomorie is one of the quieter places. It is an ancient town dating back to the 4th century BC. Pomorie's appearance is reminiscent of nearby Nessebar. Its old part is also on a peninsula, although not as narrow as Nessebar's. In 1906, unfortunately, the town was destroyed by a large fire, so the old town was not preserved. The town lies about 18 km from Nessebar and 20 from Burgas. In the town there are, among other things, famous healing mud baths, located on a beautiful rocky peninsula near Lake Pomorie. The baths have healing power and help against diseases of the musculoskeletal system, nervous system and eczema. This small town has made a fortune by exporting salt and the aromatic dry wine 'Pomoriiski Dimjat'. There are also rare bird species such as woodcock and cormorants, which frequent the long strip of salt water. From the fishing harbour stretches the main four-kilometre stretch of the Pomeranian beach, which separates the famous local salt pans from the open sea. As a rarity, you will see black sand on one of the beaches. The real centre of this seaside town is the lively pedestrian zone that runs through the green park. Here you will find many restaurants, shops, discos, a bank, post office and a clinic. The advantage of this town is the convenient connection to the nearby Sunny Beach and historic Nessebar. In Pomorie you can sunbathe on three nice beaches. The first beach lies north of the old centre and is very long and fine sandy. Unusually, the more secluded part of the beach basically forms a kind of border between the Black Sea and Lake Pomorie, which lies just beyond. From this beach it is only a short walk to the ancient centre of the resort. If you like privacy, follow the beach further north, away from the local hotels. The further you go, the fewer people you'll see on the beach. The second beach is smaller and is located to the south of the resort. It is quieter, further away from the centre, with rocks in places. But you will find peace and privacy. The third beach is a rarity, here you will find black sand and healing mud. Both umbrellas and sunbeds are available on the beach for a fee and there is a wide range of water sports on offer.

Near Pomorie, about 5 km west, is the Monastery of St George with its manicured gardens, as well as the Pomeranian tombs and mausoleum. Salt is mined in Lake Pomorie, about 30,000 tonnes annually. The Salt Museum is of tourist interest. During the summer season, dozens of concerts, theatre performances, festivals are held in Pomorie. There are exhibitions, so culture lovers will not miss out. In the town there are two well-preserved churches from the 18th and 19th centuries. In the very centre of the town there is the 17th-century monastery of St. George with its famous bas-relief. 2 km from the town there is the Pomorie lagoon and lake (Anhialo Lake), near which a spa sanatorium using mud baths has been built. This healing method has been known here since antiquity and was also widely used by the Byzantines. 6 km from Pomorie is the picturesque village of Sarafovo with its beautiful beaches. Very interesting is the nature reserve Atanassov Lake, which forms a large lagoon south of Sarafovo. Near the town, at the Europa campsite, the Thracian graves and the 3rd-4th century tombs are accessible. You should not miss Nessebar. There is a regular bus service to Burgas as well as private boat carriers. Vines thrive on the sunny slopes around the town. The local wine production is one of the best and most respected in Bulgaria. Well-known and not yet sold varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Dimjat, Pamid, Grand Noire, Alkanboushe and others are grown here. The local rakija is also rightly described as one of the best in Bulgaria.

A holiday in this picturesque town will delight lovers of beautiful nature, healing spas, good wine and black sand.
